Where it was filmed HSM 3 was filmed at East High School in Salt Lake City Utah. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the GOED board approved a maximum $2 million incentive for HSM 3 to be filmed at East High School. The largest amount ever given for a filmmaker to film in Utah. 4. High School Musical: Get in the Picture The winner of High School Musical: Get in the Picture and the other 11 finalist appeared in a music video that was shown during the ending credits of the theatrical release. The video was "Just Getting Started." 3. Cast Despite all the drama (Zac Efron wanting more money and Vanessa Hudgens photo scandal) all six of the primary stars from HSM 1 and 2 returned for the third installment and Kenny Ortega returned as director and choreographer. 2. Budget The budget for HSM 3 was $13.3 million and they had a shooting schedule of 40 to 41 days. 1. Success High School Musical 3 had record breaking success at the box office. It grossed over $42 million in the U.S. and $40 million world wide on opening weekend, breaking the record for the biggest movie musical opening ever. Mamma Mia previously held the record. As of February 8, 2009, HSM 3 has earned $246.8 million world wide. Now go and buy the DVD because Disney and its stars haven't made enough money off this yet.
