Kanye West Returning to MTV VMAs

Posted on August 11, 2010 - 12:10pm by Sara Kanye West has notoriously had a strange relationship with MTV over the past 5 years.  The hip-hop superstar's criticisms of MTV stemmed from the fact he has been nominated for 15 Video Music Awards -- but has only taken home 2 of the coveted 'Moon Men'. 

 

 

Despite his criticisms of the network, West continues to participate in the star studded award show year after year by making appearances and performing.

Things got even WORSE last year when Kanye jumped up on stage and interrupted Taylor Swifts' acceptance speech for her Best Female Video award.

 

 

Kanye took it upon himself to let everyone know that he felt Beyonce should have won, leaving 19-year-old country star speechless.  The backlash against West began instantly, and many assumed he would never return to the VMA stage again -- they were wrong.

 

Reports are circulating the Stronger singer will be back this year!  Not only is West set to attend the award show -- but he will reportedly be PERFORMING!  West is also nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video.  MTV has yet to comment on the reports, but magazine sources claim that fans can expect to see him on stage on September 12.

 

Taylor Swift is once again nominated this year against Beyonce in the Best Female Video category.  Hopefully Kanye will keep his opinions to himself this year.

 

Other rumored performances are: Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Usher, Pink, Katy Perry, and 30 Seconds to Mars.
