Mary-Kate Olsen: I Would Never Wish My Upbringing On Anyone
Mary-Kate Olsen grew up in the spotlight alongside her twin sister, Ashley Olsen. The tiny twin is definitely not the same girl that starred on the hit show, Full House, anymore though. At just 24-years-old, Mary-Kate Olsen is now a respectable name in the world of fashion.
The starlet sat down with Marie Claire magazine to discuss fashion, her life as a child-star and reveals that her sister is her biggest support system. Check out the interview highlights:
On her past as a child-star, Olsen says:
"I look at old photos of me, and I don't feel connected to them at all... I would never wish my upbringing on anyone. But, I wouldn't take it back for the world ."
No stranger to the world of tabloids, Mary-Kate battled an eating disorder very publicly in 2004. She also dealt with the loss of her close friend, Heath Ledger, who died of an overdose in 2008. In regards to both difficult times, Mary-Kate simply states:
"I think it's really important to be able to talk when something's wrong. I learned at a really young age that if you don't talk about it, it can drive you insane."
While Mary-Kate is by no means leaving the acting world completely, she does consider her and Ashley's fashion line, The Row, the first priority. Says Olsen:
"It took us a year-and-a-half to make the first T-shirt... I still read scripts, and if something great comes along, that's great . but this is my day job. The Row is where I go every day."
The petite star goes on to reveal that her relationship with her sister is still strong, revealing she considers Ashley her biggest support system.
"Sometimes Ash and I have to bring each other back, or push each other more. It's really helpful to have another half; we're constantly checking in with each other."
It's so refreshing to see a child actress with her head on her shoulders. Hollywire is definitely proud of how far Mary-Kate has come and of how much her and her sister have accomplished!
