The Sesame Street segment featuring pop singer Katy Perry will NOT be airing as scheduled. Sesame Street producers decided to pull the segment after parents responded to the promo video with complaints about the stars revealing costume.

Parents thought that Katy was showing too much cleavage for a children's program. The producers commented on the situation saying,

Sesame Street has a long history of including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We us parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver.

We also value our viewer's opinions particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we've received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on YouTube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on YouTube.

Katy took to her Twitter page when she found out, saying, "Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at www.katyperry.com Tag you're it, Elmo!"

I think it is fine until Katy Perry starts running. It totally looks like her boobs are going to pop out of her dress during the running part. What was Sesame Street thinking...are they aiming at dad's with this one or something...LOL!

I agree that it's a bit too revealing - especially when she's running! Even adding an inch or two to the top would have made a HUGE difference. The back of the dress covers EVERYTHING while the front just covered the bare necessities. I have to admit that I do wonder about the choice for Katy Perry on a show for pre-schoolers. Really?

yea, I mean Katy Perry for pre-school ? If she didn't always dress for sensuality she's probably ok. I wouldn't want my 3 year old seeing her there !

I think Miss Perry looks ADORABLE. I don't know why parents should be petrified that kids will be damaged at seeing a little cleavage - they see five times as much on the beach, at the pool, at the gym. Matter of fact, even very little girls have clothes sold to them at "mall brand" stores that mimic the outfit Katie Perry wears - And it WAS supposed to be "dress-up". What a tempest in a teapot. ONLY IN AMERICA, PEOPLE! Oh, no, wait - in the middle east, as well... sorry...

I don't think her dress was a problem, but the fact that a teen icon is on a show for pre-schoolers is a little odd... What happened to the days when kids only listened to **** like the Wiggles?

As for people saying things like "I don't want my 3 year olds looking at that!", that's just retarded. They're three... they were still sucking on titties a few years back. I don't think seeing cleavage would have an adverse effect (if you can call it that) on anybody under 12.

oh come on, so what, pre schoolers are used to see boobies...i guess it bothered their moms that they don't look that good.

I don't see the big deal...It wasn't very revealing...I think mothers get jealous they don't look like that so they try to get that image off the television screen. Kinda sad.
