Lindsay Lohan is indisputably one of the most famous women in the world. From her first Jello commercial alongside Bill Cosby to her break-out role in The Parent Trap in 1998, Lohan was destined to be a star.
Since 2000, the now 24-year-old actress has experienced extreme success with box office hits such as Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. Lohan's shining moments have often been over-shadowed by several tragic and life-altering moments such as several stints in rehab AND jail.
Hollywire has compiled the most defining moments of Lindsay Lohan's career since the year 2000! Check them out:
Keeping up her relationshp with Disney, Lindsay Lohan starred in Life Size alongside Tyra Banks in 2000. She became a tabloid fixture in 2002 after rumors circulated that she was feuding with fellow Disney actress Hllary Duff over pop star Aaron Carter.
In 2003, Lohan starred in Freaky Friday alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Her performance won her the award for Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards that year. Lohan also showed off her vocal talents by singing on the Freaky Friday soundtrack.
Lohan starred as Cady Heron in the 2004 box-office hit, Mean Girls, making her the teen queen of movies. At 17-years-old, Lindsay also became the youngest host of the MTV Movie Awards that same year. She won Best Female Performance and Best On-Screen Team with other cast members at the ceremony. Lohan received four awards at the 2004 Teen Choice Awards, too.
Lindsay also hosted Saturday Night Live three times between 2004-2006.
In 2005, rumors circulated that Lohan had an eating disorder and/or was abusing drugs after several emaciated photos of her surfaced. Lohan starred in the film Herbie: Fully Loaded which received mixed reviews. While filming the movie, Lindsay was rushed to the hospital for over-exhaustion. Lindsay's father, Michael Lohan, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to aggravated unlicensed driving and attempted assualt.
Lindsay also broke-up with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama during this year. In October of 2005, she was involved in a car accident in West Hollywood after a van made an illegal U-turn and slammed into Lindsay's black Mercedes.
2006 was a rocky year for Lohan. Her film, Just My Luck, performed poorly at the box office -- raking in less than 6 million during opening weekend. During this year, Lindsay began filming Georgia Rule alongside Jane Fonda. Production was delayed after Lohan's third hospital visit in 2006 in which she was treated for overheating and dehydration (again). The CEO of the film's production company released a statement saying, "You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was 'heat exhaustion'. We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called 'exhaustion'."
The statement tainted Lohan's professional reputation. On an up-side, Lohan received rave reviews for her performance in Bobby and Meryl Streep paid her an enormous public compliment after working with her on A Prarie Home Companion. During this year Lohan also ended a relationship with restaurant owner Harry Morton.
In 2007, Lindsay Lohan entered rehab three different times. The first was in early January during production on the film I Know Who Killed Me. Lohan admitted herself to the Wonderland Center rehabilitation facility and checked out on February 16, 2007 after completing a 30-day stay. On May 26th, Lohan lost control of her Mercedes-Benz after a night out of partying. Police found a "usable" amount of cocaine inside her car. Lohan was arrested for DUI and then entered the Promises Treatment Center rehabilitation facility for 45 days.
On July 24th 2007, less than two weeks after leaving Promises, Lohan was booked on a felony charge of possession of cocaine and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. In August 2007, Lohan entered Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Sundance, Utah for a third stint in rehab. She was discharged on October 5th, 2007.
In 2008, Lindsay Lohan launched her 6126 leggings clothing line. She made her first on-screen appearance since her film flop I Know Who Killed Me by guest starring in four episodes of the hit ABC comedy Ugly Betty. In 2008 Lohan also admitted she was in a relationship with Samantha Ronson.
In 2009, Lindsay split from Ronson. The duo quarreled publicly over Twitter. In April of 2010, Lohan missed two court appearances, causing authorities to question whether or not she was taking her AA probation courses seriously. On May 24th, Lohan was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and submit to random drug testing at least once a week to avoid jail time-- her SCRAM bracelet went off on June 7th during an MTV Movie Awards after party.
On July 7th, Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the probation terms of her 2007 drug and alcohol case. She was released on August 2nd due to overcrowding. She was taken to an inpatient rehabilitation facility where she was expected to stay another 90 days but stayed for only 23 days.
On September 3rd, Lohan's film Machete hit theaters. She received mixed reviews. Following several media reports on September 17th, Lohan confirmed on her Twitter account that she had failed a recent drug test. Lindsay voluntarily entered the Betty Ford Center days later. At a hearing on October 22nd, a judge ordered Lohan to remain in rehab until January 3, 2011. Her next court hearing is scheduled for February 25th, 2011.
