Movie Review: 'Tron: Legacy' Is A Must-See 3D!
Nearly three decades ago, Walt Disney Studios created one of the biggest cult classic films of its time. The original Tron, which was created by writer/director Steven Lisberger, marked the beginning of the CGI era.
The hype for Disney's long-awaited sequel to the original has been building for months! The new Tron: Legacy hits theaters on December 17th, 2010 -- just in time for families to catch the flick during the holiday season. Hollywire was invited to attend an advanced screening of the highly-anticipated flick... and we have to say, it was majorly impressive! We would even go as far as to say that Tron: Legacy is the Avatar of 2011!

Tron: Legacy opens in the 'real world,' back in 1989 with Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) discussing his adventures and endeavors with his young son, Sam. Flynn has been somewhat absent from Sam's life, as he has been pulling a lot of ‘all-nighters’ at the office working on a project that is said to change mankind. Just before Flynn's bosses are able to offer him a pay-raise for his achieved success and creative work, he is reported missing, leaving Sam to take over his shares of the company.

Fast forward to present day. Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner), a close colleague and friend of Kevin's, tells a now 20-something-year-old Sam (Garrett Hedlund) that he received a page from Flynn's Arcade, causing Sam to investigate. After several attempts to crack the code into his father's game, he eventually is blasted into the Grid. At this point, the 3-D kicks in and the effects start rolling. The audience is also introduced to Olivia Wilde's character, Quorra, who honestly steals a number of scenes with her acting abilities and adorable hard-core/geek chic persona. We don't want to give away too much of the movie... But, we do want to fill you in on the highlights of the film.

Visually, Tron: Legacy has it all. Director Joseph Kosinski enlisted the help of James Cameron's digital effects company, Digital Domain (now owned by Michael Bay). From the light cycles to the newly-created Light Disc battle, Light Jets and Light Cars, the 3D animation paired with neon color-scheme created a high-energy, aesthetically pleasing and exciting film. The use of effects and the astounding architecture of the Grid in the movie makes the audience feel as though they are a part of the whirl-wind action. The most amazing part of the flick's effects is the ability to make Jeff Bridges appear 20 years younger!
French pop/electronic duo, Daft Punk, famously known for tracks such as One More Time and Around The World, composed a completely electro, funky and edgy original score for Tron: Legacy.
The film hits theaters on December 17th, 2010!
