Jennifer Lopez Speaks Out about 'American Idol' Breakdown

Jennifer Lopez couldn't contain her emotions on Wednesday's episode of American Idol. The singer/celebrity judge was brought to tears by the elimination of contestant Chris Medina.

Chris is the 26 year old contestant whose fiancee Juliana suffered brain damage in a car accident in October of 2009 and is now confined to a wheelchair. JLo was the judge who gave Chris the bad news about his elimination, saying, "It honestly breaks my heart to say this, but you did not make it into the top 24." She then broke down to tears.

On Thursday, Lopez opened up about the emotional breakdown, saying, "After he left it really hit me -- I just couldn't believe I had to deliver this news to someone who's been through enough."

Adding, "He handled it with so much dignity and class... and that made it worse for me. It was really how I felt in that moment -- it was really hard."

Seeing Jennifer Lopez's humanity throughout American Idol really raised her up in my estimation.

I think J.Lo is a fantastic judge on AI. Her emotions in elimination just further shows what a heartfelt person she is. She is the best female judge AI has ever had.
