Just one day after shocking the world by being eliminated from the hit TV competition, American Idol, Pia Toscano has landed a record deal.

According to Us magazine, Pia has signed with Interscope Records, which is chaired by AI mentor, Jimmy Lovine.

The elimination was shocking for the singer and her fans. Pia talked about the elimination during a conference call on Friday, telling reporters, "You don't know for sure why things happen, but you know, it did! It was my time to go on the show and I'm excited to see what my future holds."

A source close to the situation told Us magazine, "Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP. Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it."
