Everyone remembers what happened to Christina Aguilera atthis year’s Super Bowl when she fumbled the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. But she stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show -- airing today -- to set the records straighton why things happened the way they did.
“I took in the moment a little bittoo much,” she said, adding that she’s been singing the song since she was 7 or8 years old.
"Shoot me for appreciating themoment but here I am at the Super Bowl...singing for a team and in front of theworld. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I madeit now," she said.
Christina knew she messed up rightafter it happened, but the singer is ready to move on from the incident.
"That night I knew, I just mademyself a Trivial Pursuit question...In 2011 what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics. It's just insane," she said. "But I have a reallygood laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you justprove to yourself and to everyone you [are] that much stronger."
While it may have been a tough yearfor Aguilera, she’s ready to turn things around with her new reality singingcompetition, The Voice, which premieres tonight on NBC.
What do you think about Christinamessing up the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner? Honest mistake or should she be a bit more apologetic?
