Demi Lovato took to Twitter to defend herself against some not-so-nice critics who made comments about her weight following her appearance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

Demi's Lovatics rushed to her defense, as the teen singer/actress quickly became a trending topic on Twitter and remained one for several hours following the VMAs.  One celebrity who took notice of Lovato's popularity on the social networking site?  Kim Kardashian's little bro, Rob!

Rob & Demi exchanged sweet Tweets back and forth -- which makes us wonder if something could ever romantically happen between the duo.  After all, they were rumored to be dating in September of 2010.
