Emma Stone hit the world premiere for her latest flick, The Help, earlier this week in Los Angeles. Our own Katie Krause was front and center on the star-studded red carpet to get the scoop on why the inspirational film is creating Oscar buzz and what the cast hopes audiences will learn from it!
The talented cast, including Tony Award winner Viola Davis, Octavia Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janney and Chris Lowell, also opened up about the emotional film and told us why they think Stone has become such a break-out star over the past year!
The Help, which is a film adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's 2009 best-selling novel of the same name, was directed by first-time director Tate Taylor. Check out Hollywire's coverage of the world premiere right here!
"The adaptation was new, So I, hopefully you know did her half justice," said Stone about bringing the character of "Skeeter" to life in the film.
As for what the cast hopes audiences will learn from the movie? Viola Davis, who plays the insanely brave Aibileen Clark, said it best. "I just want them to take away that there is nothing you can't overcome with a good healthy dose of courage... that's all it takes," she told Katie. "The courage to dare, to just step out on a limb and risk everything... something wonderful may come from that."
The cast also talked about how excited they were that the movie, which hits theaters this week, is already garnering tons of Oscar buzz. The cutest moment of the night though? When Chris Lowell, who plays Stone's love interest in the movie, dished about smooching his talented costar!
"It's a lot easier to be rude to Emma Stone than it is to have make-out scenes with Emma Stone," joked the 26-year-old actor. "We're like brother and sister... so, we fight like brother and sister, we love each other like brother and sister and so, kissing each other like brother and sister is a little bit.... awkward!" Cute!
