Katy Perry wins big at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards as she takes home one of the most coveted awards of the evening -- Video Of The Year for her pop anthem, Fireworks. The pink haired singer hit the stage to thank her fans as well as her loving husband, Russell Brand.
The 26-year-old also took home Moonmen for Best Collaboration and Best Special Effects. Perry headed to the press room after her big win where she posed for photos, but showed up in a different outfit than she had on earlier in the night, being that of a black and silver sequined number. "I just felt like being colorful and fun. With me I am ok with the self deprecations." The singer said about the inspiration behind her eclectic evenings outfits. "I'm alright with being laughed at, laughed with and just laughing. Inspiration of tonight's outfits and outfit changes was to have a laugh."
When asked about her big win, Perry talked about how much of a fan she is of Adele and the other musicians in the category. "I was in shock because there was a lot of other great people in that catogory, especially Adele, who I love and was well deserving of this award." The singer goes on to talk about how proud she is of her song Firework and loves that it touches so many people, saying "Firework to me feels like a movement. I feel like you can always sing songs about clubs, bit*&# and hoes, but I think it takes a lot more to sing songs like fireworks!"
