Twitter has become a major way for celebrities to connect with fans and fill them in on everything going on with their careers and even sometimes personal lives!  Britney Spears is one celebrity who has take advantage of this social media platform, and just this week she has become the sixth person to reach 10 million followers on Twitter.

Spears joins Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Barack Obama, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, who all already have more than 10 million followers.  The I Wanna Go singer frequently uses the social networking site to give her fans news from the road as well as information about what they can expect to come up next in her career.

According to mediabistro.com, the next celebrity that is likely to reach 10 million is Shakira, who already has more than 9 million followers.  Coming up close behind the hip-shaking singer is Taylor Swift and Rihanna with more than 8 million, and Ashton Kutcher, who rounds out the top ten people with the most Twitter followers, just shy of 8 million.  Kutcher falling at number 10 is a bit of a shock, considering he was to reach one million!

Britney is currently in Europe for her Femme Fatale tour - who knows, maybe she'll rack up some more European followers and surpass some of the celebs higher than her on the followers list!
