Giuliana Rancic's Breast Cancer Battle Not Over Yet

Giuliana Rancic announced the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer six weeks ago. But now that her radiation treatments are coming to an end, Rancic has publicly revealed that, unfortunately, her fight with the disease isn't over just yet.

The E! News host, who returned to the set just five days after her first surgery in October, announced today that she will be undergoing a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction surgery this week.  However, she is going into the procedure as positive as ever, and has released a statement to on the Today Show Monday morning explaining why.

"First, I would like to take the stigma away," Rancic said. "'Mastectomy' - the word seemed so scary to me at first.  After doing research and seeing the advancements, the surgery has come a long way from 20 years ago.  The results can be incredible.  Not only can it save your life, but you can come out feeling healthier and with a positive self-image.  Second, I want to encourage everyone to be proactive with their health and get checked out.  When I went public with my breast cancer diagnosis six weeks ago, the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers and support really helped me heal faster.  I want to make sure to thank everyone and give them an update for being so kind and loving and supporting."

Rancic said that although this isn't the easiest decision, after several consultations with experts, she knows it's the best one.  Of course, she had her husband Bill Rancic by her side when making the announcement, who made it clear that he didn't care what his wife's physical appearance would be following the surgery, as long as she's around.

"I'm not scared of what I'll be like," Rancic said. "I'll have scars, but I like scars.  Scars are beautiful because they tell a story.  I'll be able to say that I survived something major and it's made me stronger.  I will be a better woman for it."

Truly inspiring words from Ms. Rancic.

Any messages to send out to Giuliana as she begins this difficult week?
