Ellie Kemper, that adorably chipper redhead you've seen in The Office and Bridesmaids, is going to need to find some bridesmaids of her own!
The comedy actress is engaged to a comedy writer (naturally) and the announcement came on Conan O'Brien's show -- which is fitting because her fiance Michael Koman used to write for Conan!
In fact, it was Conan who initially broke the news on the show, saying to Ellie, "I want to mention something. It's sort of a big deal around this office. You got engaged."
"Yeah I did!" confirmed Ellie. "Michael's a delight, as you know, so of course [my parents] like him a lot."
Though apparently not all of her family was pleased at first. A few Thanksgivings ago, Ellie's grandfather gave Michael a hard time. After dinner, Ellie recalls, "There was a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie out, and my grandpa said, 'Ellie, what kind of pie are you gonna have?' And I said, 'I don't know, grandpa. They both look really good. I think I'll have pecan.' He said, 'Are you sure, Ellie? Because it's okay to keep your options open. You don't have to settle on a pie right now."
Ohh, grandparents and their adorable passive-aggressive metaphors. Apparently that didn't dissuade Ellie OR Michael from making the leap.
According to our Internet-stalking, Kemper is besties with Office co-star Mindy Kaling. Wonder if she'll be one of her bridesmaids? If so, they should definitely write a Bridesmaids sequel together based on their experiences. We'll buy advance tix.
Congrats to the happy couple!!
