Twilight vixen Ashley Greene strutted up to the 2012 People's Choice Awards red carpet in a coquettish black lace and leather dress, wowing press, fans and other celebrities, alike! But she wasn't the only one who thought to combine soft, feminine lace with rough, edgy leather. Kristen Bell rocked a lace and leather ensemble that could have stopped traffic -- not just because the outfit is stoplight red. So which stylish starlet nailed the trend? Let's take a closer look...

Ashley Greene in a black lace and leather DKNY dress at the People's Choice AwardsAshley wore a DKNY dress with leather bodice and skirt, and black lace neck and shoulders. The combination of the high neck and the dramatic black lace, juxtaposed with the hard leather, makes for a gothic look. And this is definitely a "don't try this dress at home" style -- although Ashley has a crazy-toned figure, the dress doesn't even flatter HER in the midsection. Can't even imagine what it would look like on a normal person... Beauty-wise, I love her loose waves and soft makeup -- though she could have used a smokier eye to match the vampy dress.

As for Ms. Bell...

Kristen Bell wears a red lace top and leather skirt at the People's Choice AwardsKristen's sheer lace top and matching red leather skirt is an outfit masterfully crafted by Gucci. The cut of this look is much more flattering than that of Ashley's. The high-waisted A-line skirt shows off Kristen's teeny waist, without showing TOO much. And the sheer ruched neckline adds a playful layer to the aggressive ensemble. The suede beige shoes are a perfect way to lengthen the leg-line, particularly with someone as petite as Kristen. And she finished off the look with her go-to wavy beach hair and minimalist makeup.

Side note -- Kristen went red carpet-hopping last night. She bounced from the People's Choice Awards directly to the premiere of the movie The Grey. Way to get mileage out of a great outfit!
