Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter is only a few days old, but she's already become the talk of the town. From her unique name to Jay-Z's crazy-adorable tribute song to his daughter, Glory, we just can't get enough! And at long last, the superstar couple has finally made their official announcement of Blue Ivy's arrival.
The couple said in a joint statement Monday, "We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful – we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs. It was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support."
The statement confirms some things we already knew -- the name and the date. But it also casts off the rumors that Beyonce had arranged a scheduled cesarean.
Blue Ivy was delivered at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and there were rumors that there were diva demands made by the couple. But the Executive Director of the hospital Frank Danza, reputed all the rumors. He said in a statement Monday, "The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations."
He also rejected the complaints that one father had, who said that he was unable to see his son because of Beyonce and Jay-Z's security detail. "We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days. No security plan that we or the Carters' security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the NICU."
We're glad he cleared that up, because we don't like to hear people talking smack about Bey and Jay-Z. Are they not the most lovable superstar couple in Hollywood? And while they may have crazy amounts of cash, something about them has always seemed so grounded and classy. We're excited for the happy couple and looking forward to more baby tidbits in the coming months!!
Do you think these two will make good parents??
