Katy Perry Schedules First Post-Divorce Appearance!

It didn't take Katy Perry long to return to the spotlight after she and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Russell Brand, announced their divorce. The Firework singer is scheduled to make her first post-divorce appearance on Jan. 11 at the People's Choice Awards, PEOPLE reports. The award show will take place in Los Angeles, California and is the first of several appearances Perry is to make this month. She is also expected to perform in Jakarta and Manila.

Perry and Brand shocked friends, family and fans when they announced they were ending their marriage of only 14 months. One source told PEOPLE, "They were always laughing. They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love." It's been reported that the couple really tried to save their marriage, but after several rocky months decided to go ahead with the divorce. Perry put the burden of filing onto Brand for fear of upsetting her evangelical Christian parents, who taught the singer that divorce was wrong.
