Awards season is upon us, and while we anxiously await the People's Choice Awards tonight and the Golden Globes on Sunday, some of the biggest names in the film industry showed up to the National Board of Reviews Gala -- giving us a sneak preview of their styles for the season.

And this was quite a crowd! From A-list vets like George Clooney and Helen Mirren to rising stars like Emma Stone and Rooney Mara!

So who had the best red carpet outfit? Kiera Knightley is a serious contender...

Kiera's showstopping sheer, lace black dress is a Nina Ricci design, and looks utterly stunning on her. The intricate lace detail and carefully placed black panels on the bodice make for a sexy, chic look. Definitely one that not every woman could pull off, but her slender frame is perfect in this dress. The loose waves in her cropped hair and light pink lipstick add to the romantic tone of the ensemble. Nailed it.

Next up we have the uber-It-Girl Emma Stone....

Emma Stone in a white dress at the National Board of Reviews galaEmma wore this cream-hued J. Mendel dress that seemed to be perfetly tailored to her frame. The color is just dreamy on her fair skin, but she managed to avoid being too washed out by adding a pop of red lipstick. She rounded out the look with olive Christian Louboutin heels. The ensemble is that perfect combination of chic, sophisticated and glamorous.

And speaking of chic, next we have the rising star that is Rooney Mara...

Rooney Mara in a black dress at the National Board of Reviews GalaRooney sported a simple black Miu Miu, and while the dress was plain in style, the shape of the dress is playful and her gamine look works perfectly in this understated mod frock. Also, Rooney might be the only girl in the world who can look utterly glam in a side-parted gelled-down hairstyle. How does she do it?! While she opted out of any jewelry or accessories, her sparkly silver stacked stilettos were all that was needed to enliven the ensemble. We love.

Finally, we have teenage up-and-comer Chloe Moretz...

Chloe also opted for a Miu Miu ensemble, but the talented 14-year-old (HOW is she only 14!?), went for a much more daring stoplight red satin dress. I love the high neck and collar that make it a little less cocktail and almost like a playful business casual look. And while she looks glamorous and sophisticated, I love that Chloe's accessories, namely her blue nailpolish and bow barette keep the look age-appropriate. And the girl gets bonus points for elegantly side-stepping any kind of teen "awkward stage."

So who was the best dressed of these four gorgeous movie starlets? I might be in the Kiera camp, but it's a close call. Vote and tell us what you like about the looks in the comments below!!
