Tiger Woods's ex-wife Elin Nordegren completely demolished the oceanfront estate she purchased in North Palm Beach, Florida. The mansion cost the Swedish model $12 million, but that didn't stop her from leveling the place.
Elin's builder explained the reasoning behind tearing down the home to PEOPLE, saying, "It wasn't built to the South Florida wind-loading codes of today that were put in place because of hurricanes. We had an architect and a structural engineer out here and everyone agreed that it made more sense -- structurally and economically -- to tear down and start over."
Prior to sending in the bulldozers, Elin allowed Habitat for Humanity of Martin County, Fla. come in and remove tens of thousands of dollars worth of cabinets, hardware, and fixtures, PEOPLE reports. Bobbi Blodgett, director of deconstruction for Habitat, stated, "We're so grateful to Elin. It's rare we get this kind of donation."
Elin and her two children, Sam and Charlie will continue to live in a nearby rental home until construction on the new beachfront estate is complete.
