America's Indie Sweetheart Zooey Deschanel hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and she fully embraced the satire spirit -- by acting in a sketch where someone else was parodying HER! Abby Elliott did a spot-on Zooey impression in a sketch called Bein' Quirky with Zooey Deschanel while Zooey herself played Mary-Kate Olsen!

So we love us some Zooey, but her Mary-Kate impression is not very strong (though the costuming was pitch-perfect). I think part of the reason Zooey is so easy to impersonate is that she has very definitive voice and facial quirks that are totally charming, but also probably hard for her to mask. So it's especially noticeable when she's on stage trying to play someone else when someone is there playing HER.

Taran Killam as Michael Cera might be our favorite part of the sketch. He has the goofy voice and gait down pat. But Kristen Wiig as Bjork had the best bit, making a sweater for an octopus, "with one extra hole for its hopes and dreams." *cue Bjork giggle.*

While Zooey may not be the first host to be in a sketch where someone else is impersonating them, we have to give her props as it is pretty brave -- performing live while someone else is parodying how she performs... that must be tough! But her SNL hosting gig made it clear that Zooey D can't shake her quirks. But maybe that's why we love her.

What did you think of Zooey's Mary-Kate impression?
