Celebrity Couples We Wish Were Still Together!
In honor of Valentine's Day (and also in honor of our totally healthy obsession with celebrities), we got to thinking about our favorite celebrity couples of the past. Most of these celebs are now in new, happy relationships (which we totally support!), but you know how it is -- Valentine's Day has a tendency to make people feel nostalgic. So here's a look at some famous Hollywood couples who were so awesome together that we wish they were still an item.

When they dated: 2006-2010
Why they were perfect for each other: Any relationship that involves singing and dancing has gotta be good, right? From the moment these two teen heartthrobs met on the set of High School Musical, it was love -- and unlike many other celebrity couples, they were never shy about talking about their feelings for each other. Hudgens was once quoted as saying, "Right off the bat, we had a connection. I think everybody could see it." We could, Vanessa! We so could!
When they dated: 2004-2007
Why they were perfect for each other: They met on the set of probably the most romantic movie ever made -- The Notebook. As the world watched their characters, Noah and Allie, fall in love onscreen, we fell in love with Ryan and Rachel off-screen. Because come on, even the best actors in the world can't fake that kind of chemistry.
Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon
When they dated: 2007-2009
Why they were perfect for each other: They're both just so adorable. And they would make ridiculously adorable babies. And to further add to the adorableness, Reese told InStyle magazine that she and Jake used to spend their weekends at her farmhouse where they hung out with chickens and grew their own vegetables. Awww.
When they dated: On and off from 2007-2010
Why they were perfect for each other: They're both incredibly cool and laid-back. Justin and Drew's unique chemistry came through loud and clear in their 2010 romantic comedy Going the Distance -- you could totally tell that they laughed a lot and had a lot of fun together, which is one of the most important things in a relationship.
Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears
When they dated: 1999-2002
Why they were perfect for each other: They had everything in common! They were two of the sexiest and most famous pop stars of the Y2K era, they came from small-town upbringings, they were on the Mickey Mouse Club as kids, and they swore up and down that they were virgins! It was just too perfect, even though that last thing was totally a lie.
When they were together: Dated from 1999-2002 and were married from 2002-2005.
Why they were perfect for each other: Let's be real. Not too many guys would stay in a relationship for three years without having sex. But that's what Nick did, because Jessica wanted to remain a virgin until her wedding night. If that's not true love, I don't know what is. Plus, their reality show Newlyweds was so hilariously awesome that we want these two back together just so they could bring their show back!
When they dated: 1999-2001
Why they were perfect for each other: He wasn't fooled by the rocks that she got! Jennifer Lopez and Sean Combs were such an unlikely match that we couldn't help but be completely fascinated by their 17-month-long relationship. Despite rumors that Combs was unfaithful, the couple never seemed anything but happy together when they were in the public eye. But after Diddy was involved in a nightclub shooting in 2001, Lopez bailed. Probably a wise choice, though we miss all the salacious drama!
When they dated: 1989-1993
Why they were perfect for each other: They were the quintessential Hollywood couple of the '80s -- beautiful, famous, and totally weird. Ryder and Depp were engaged for three years before calling it quits and during their relationship, Depp got a tattoo on his arm that said, "Winona Forever." After they broke up, he had it changed to "Wino Forever." And hence the world learned a valuable lesson: while love may not last forever, tattoos do.
