Dancing With the Stars pros Derek Hough and Mark Ballas knowa thing or two about teaching an amateur how to move. One way they agree isabsolutely unacceptable: constant criticism and bringing people down. They bothcame out forward this week and spoke out against Lifetime’s Dance Moms, evengoing as far as to call it “child abuse.”

Heading to their Twitters, the men gave their blunt opinionsof the show’s star Abby Lee Miller and her teaching techniques for her youngdance students. “There’s a difference between being strict and being abusive,”Hough tweeted on Wednesday, and that he believes “in discipline and a strongwork ethic.”

“But,” he added, “there is nothing productive aboutscreaming and making little girls cry over being on the wrong foot.”

Miller is known as a tough teacher with her techniquesusually involving yelling and leaving some students in tears over her harshwords. Ballas wrote on Twitter that Miller should be straight-up fired andsaid, “kids are impressionable and I don’t want young children being afraid totake up dance because of this lady. Correct teaching is patience, discipline, confidence, building and love. She needs a reality check.” Ouch!

Wehave to admit, the show is pretty brutal, but would you guys agree and call itchild abuse? Or are Derek and Mark being a bit overdramatic? Let us know!
