The Twilight Saga films have already become a worldwide success, but that doesn't mean the casting crew for the world's next big film The Hunger Games wanted any of the movies' hand-me-downs!

According to Us Weekly, Kellan Lutz, who stars in the Twilight films, desperately wanted to portray the role of Gale Hawthorne, Katniss Everdeen's longtime BFF, in the upcoming Hunger Games flick -- but was turned down by producers. "Producers told him they didn't want anyone from Twilight," a source told the mag.

Although I'm a huge Kellan Lutz fan, I have to say, now that I've seen the trailer for the movie so many times, I just can't picture anybody else as Gale but Liam Hemsworth, aka Miley Cyrus' boyfriend who is the lucky guy that ended up getting the apparently coveted role!

However, just because he was turned down from one role, doesn't mean Kellan should get discouraged. "Kellan didn't audition," a rep from Lionsgate, the company behind The Hunger Games, explained. "But we think he's talented."
