Jay-Z & Beyonce File a Trademark For Blue Ivy's Name!
It’s normal for parents to be protective of their children, but one celebrity couple is taking it to a whole new level! New parents Jay-Z and Beyonce have officially trademarked their daughter Blue Ivy’s name. Yes, trademarked. You would think this is a little over the top, but the couple has some good, business-like intentions.
According to the Washington Post, the couple filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 26th , just a couple weeks after the birth of their little girl. So what’s the deal with this? Do they really not want anybody to have the unique, Hollywood name?

The filing came after two people tried to profit off the name only DAYS after the name was announced. Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh submitted an application to name his line “Blue Ivy Cater NYC,” while another one came in for a fragrance called “Blue Ivy Cater Glory IV.” Both applications were denied because the titles.
J and B were VERY smart about this one! It definitely shows their business-like mindset to make sure NOBODY profits off little Blue. It may seem a little overprotective, but I actually think it’s a fantastic idea! Can you image how many products would have come out with Blue Ivy attached to it?!
