Nick Carter Noticeably Absent From Sister Leslie's Funeral

Family and friends paid their final respects to Nick and Aaron Carter’s 25-year-old sister Leslie this past weekend, who died last week of an apparent drug overdose. While the funeral, held in upstate New York, included all her loved ones, one member of the family was noticeably absent – Nick Carter.

Carter released a statement to TMZ about not showing up to the ceremony and performing a concert in Bala Cynwyd, PA instead. “I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic,” he said.

Nick may have been very vague on the circumstances between him and his family, but a source close to the singer told TMZ that his family intentionally went out of their way to make sure he did not attend Leslie’s funeral.

The Backstreet Boy also said in his statement, “I want to thank everyone for all their compassion and support that I have received during this most difficult time. There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive and focused.”

Reports have been surfacing that Leslie died of an apparent overdose on prescription pills, but the official cause of death is still unknown.
