When a lot of people hear the name Dakota Fanning, theyimmediately think “child star,” right? But when the 18-year-old hears thatlabel, she doesn’t and never has considered herself one at all. In the latestissue of Wonderland, Fanning opens up about how people have perceived her asthe ultimate child star and how she keeps her private life, well, private!
"I've never really felt like achild star. That name always felt really odd to me," Fanning says. "I'vejust felt like I was an actor at 6 and 7 and, you know, a child who happened toact. But when you turn 18 you're seen as able to do more things and moreroles."
Growing up in the public eye andtrying to live a normal high school life has been tough for Fanning throughoutthe years. But one method the New York University student has used to keeppeople out of her personal life is staying away from social media. Yes, evenTwitter!
"I really don't need to letpeople know where I am and what I'm doing. I feel like a lot of people wanttheir privacy but yet they tell people where they are," she says. "It'sjust not for me. I don't have a Facebook or Twitter and I won't ever. There'splenty of impostors out there! There's enough Dakota Fannings on Twitter forall of us!"
It’s hard to imagine a celebrity whoISN’T on Twitter, right? But we totally respect where Dakota is coming from. The girl just wants to live the normal college life and make a few major filmshere and there. Is that so much to ask?
What do you think about Dakotatrying to live a normal? Is it even possible for her?
