Gotye Criticizes 'Glee' Cover of 'Somebody I Used To Know'

Fans everywhere were thrilled when Glee announced they wouldbe covering Gotye’s smash-hit single Somebody I Used to Know on an episode this season.But when it aired, one person in particular wasn’t too happy with the rendition– Gotye himself!

“They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals,but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned andthe rock has no real sense,” Gotye told the Sunday Mail. In the words of Clueless: Way harsh, Tai! Take a listen to the Glee version, featuring series star Darren Criss and guest star Matt Bomer below!

Gotyecontinued to say the tracked sounded “like it’s playing to you from a cardboardbox.” There's no doubt that nobody can perform the song like Gotye, but isn't that the beauty of Glee? They always put their own spin on a popular tune and try to make it their own. But what do you guys think?

gotye better shut up! he's just jealous because for a little while it got higher placed in iTunes top ten. glee's version was way better!

I do believe that Glee made a beautiful rendition of that song. I guess Gotye didn't get the point of view of the glee cast, I guess he wanted glee to perform the song from his point of view
