Jersey Shore's Vinny Guadagnino has opened up with a tell-all book this month about his battle with generalized anxiety disorder.
After a quick leave of absence from the Shore House last season it was evident there was more than just homesickness eating at Vinny. In fact Vinny had suffered in silence about his condition for years.
Here is an excerpt from his new book, Control The Crazy: My Plan to Stop Stressing, Avoid Drama, and MaintainInner Cool courtesy of Amazon.com:
You may have seen me recently and very publicly hit my emotional"breaking point" during season 5 of Jersey Shore. I bailed from theSeaside house, setting off rumors that I may have left the show for good. Yet, regardless of what you've seen on TV or read, trust me when I say -- no oneknows the story I'm about to share with you.
To fully understand my behavior, it's important you know what led up to it. So, let's go back several years to when this story really began.
In his new book, Control The Crazy, Vinny lets readers in on his decision to go public about his disorder and outlines steps on how to manage the kind of emotional and mental stress that anxiety brings on. Vinny has gained control of his disorder and has included ways, including his "triple threat," on how to fight back against anxiety.
It's normal to feel a certain amount of an anxiety at one time or another, but generalized anxiety is no joke. It can take hold of someone and manifest itself in an unexplainable feeling of fear, panic and uneasiness about daily activities, people, places and things. It can be debilitating and can show itself in ways that don't always make sense, like a constant feeling of anger, sadness and impatience with the world at large.
We here at Hollywire wanted to get the word out about Vinny's struggle with anxiety and his amazingly helpful book. Hopefully Control The Crazy can shed some light for those who may be experiencing some of these things themselves.
