Prepare yourselves, Saturday Night Live fans, because according to US Weekly, the show is about to lose three of its key players! Come the end of this season Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, and Andy Samberg will be bidding the show adieu!
Yes, it's OK to cry. I'm crying a little on the inside right now, too. What will we do without Kristen's Target Lady, Liza Minelli, and Kat of "Garth and Kat," Jason's Joe Biden, Mitt Romney, and Tommy the strip club M.C., and Andy's digital shorts? It's a sad day for SNL indeed.
The gang is leaving to pursue other work, and with how well they've been doing lately, I guess it doesn't come as much of a surprise. Kristen of course hit the bigtime with Bridesmaids (and even scored a screenwriting Oscar for it!) and she wowed audiences with her more serious role in Friends With Kids. Jason has had supporting roles in what seems like zillions of movies and he's currently working on Relanxious, a romantic comedy in which he's playing the male lead. And on top of Andy's film work (he'll next be seen as Adam Sandler's son in That's My Boy), he has his band and digital short-collaborators The Lonely Island to focus on.

Of course, many other beloved SNL cast members have taken this route before, and it's worked out better for some than others. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler obviously made the right choice in leaving, but the same can't really be said for the likes of Will Forte, Molly Shannon, and Cheri Oteri. I truly hope Kristen, Jason, and Andy find nothing but success on the other side of SNL, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
As for their replacements, Lorne Michaels has already invited a prospective new female cast member to try out for the show! Big Gay Sketch Show alum Kate McKinnon will be on this Saturday's episode, which will be hosted by Sofia Vergara!
