Oscar nominee Michelle Williams is known for doing mellow, quirky independent films (think My Week With Marilyn, Blue Valentine, Wendy and Lucy) and her newest movie, Take This Waltz, fits right in to that genre! The movie is about a happily married woman who falls for her artist neighbor. Check out the just-released trailer!
There's been a lot of positive buzz going around about Take This Waltz for months now. It was actually filmed last year and had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September. It was also screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Calgary International Film Festival, and Sudbury's Cinefest. Notice a theme here? Yup, the movie has some pretty strong Canadian roots!
It's written and directed by Canadian actress-turned-filmmaker Sarah Polley and its two male leads, Seth Rogen and Luke Kirby, are Canadian as well. And, of course, it was filmed entirely on location in Ontario and Nova Scotia!
I've loved Luke Kirby since he was on the Canadian series Slings and Arrows in 2003. He's a great actor and utterly adorable and I have a feeling this movie is going to make him a star. Luke plays the neighbor that Michelle's character falls for, while Seth Rogen plays the unassuming husband. And the hilarious Sarah Silverman is on hand to provide comice relief and sage advice as Michelle's best friend.
Take This Waltz hits theaters June 7 -- will you be going to see it?
