Several weeks after the news hit that Gary Ross would be replaced by Francis Lawrence as director of Catching Fire, Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth is finally opening up about his feelings on the matter! And he's being totally honest!
"The last I heard the new director hadjust come on, so that's really cool," Liam told E! News this weekend. "I'm excitedabout that. I think we shoot the last few months of this year." But after he got that diplomatic answer out of the way, he got real: "I'm really sad to see that Gary's not going to bepart of the second one," he said. "He did such an amazing job on thefirst." Sigh. So true.
But despite his mourning over the loss of Ross, Liam made a good point: "I thinkthat there's still so many people a part of it that want the film to be greatand care about it so much that they're not going to bring the wrong personon." He's right -- Lionsgate wants Catching Fire to be as good as it can possibly be. They wouldn't have hired Lawrence if they weren't confident that he would do an amazing job, right?
Last week, Liam's co-star Josh Hutcherson made a similar assessment. He said he's "sad about Gary not beingthere," but that "I think we’re going to make a good movie nevertheless, and I’m excited to see what Francis brings to the table." And so are Hunger Games fans the world over! Can it just be November 2013 already please??
What type of role would you like to see Liam play next?
