Only one magazine was interested in paying Jessica Simpson for exclusive photos of her newborn daughter Maxwell, but we doubt she's complaining.
Huffington Post reported that People magazine plunked down a cool $800,000 for rights to the exclusive photos, which are currently on newsstands now in their latest issue. The singer/mom-trepreneur, who gave birth on May 1, also gave an exclusive interview to the magazine on her first weeks of motherhood. How's that for a bargain?!
Although the high six-figure payout is impressive for just a day of work, the number pales in comparison to what other celebrities have received for their exclusive baby photos. Jennifer Lopez received $6 million for images of her twins, while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie take top billing with $14 million for their exclusive baby photo shoot. "Jessica is a little bit of a risky cover," said one magazine editor. "She hasn't sold magazine covers in a long time, which is why she has been offered less than a million for the pictures. Although, when it comes to celebrity babies, the risk is minimal."
While Jessica's music days seem to be a thing of the past--she hasn't released anything since 2008's Do You Know--she's been doing quite well for herself since then. Her clothing line, the Jessica Simpson Collection, has turned into a billion dollar brand and is the most successful celebrity fashion line ever. And she'll be able to fit into even more of those clothes after signing a reported $3 million deal with Weight Watchers to shed those pregnancy pounds.
What do you think of Jessica Simpson's payday for the photos?
