First Cash Cab, now this!
A former subject on popular HGTV show House Hunters says the entire show is fake! Bobi Jensen spoke out to Entertainment Weekly and claimed that she not only wasn't house hunting in her episode, but that HGTV wouldn't cast her until she and her family had already closed on a house! So what about the homes they looked at in her episode? Most of them weren't for sale and some of them even belonged to her friends!
Even worse, touring the homes not for sale came as an act of desperation for the network. Bobi said that realtors in her area who had houses listed wouldn't agree to be on the show. "I think they were afraid we’d show their house in a bad light," she said.
The network recently released a statement to Huffington Post that shockingly verified most of the claims! "We're making a television show, so we manage certain production and time constraints, while honoring the home buying process," said the statement. "To maximize production time, we seek out families who are pretty far along in the process. Often everything moves much more quickly than we can anticipate, so we go back and revisit some of the homes that the family has already seen and we capture their authentic reactions."
In other words: House Hunters is bogus! The show has been on the air since 1999, but it remains to be seen how many people will continue to watch a fake real estate program.
What do you think of the show being highly scripted?
