There's been a whole lot of hot smooching at the MTV Movie Awards!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are the three-time defending champs for "Best Kiss" with their smooches in the Twilight series, but the "Best Kiss" award has been giving props to the best lip-locks on the big screen since 1992. From upside-down to right side-up, practice smooches to three-way fantasies, uncomfortable bromance sessions to gay make-outs, we've gotten to see the full range of how it can be done! Check out our gallery of the winners over the last 20 years!

Year: 1992
Winners: Anna Chlumsky & Macaulay Culkin
Movie: My Girl
Why It's the Best: Macaulay was the biggest child star in Hollywood during the early '90s, but he was best known for terrorizing bandits in Home Alone than having a way with the ladies. But his role as Thomas Sennett got to see him plant a too-cute-to-be true kiss on his co-star Anna (Vada Sultenfuss) that put the pre-teen in a whole new light to movie-goers.

Macaulay Culkin in My Girl, MTV Movie Award Best Kiss 1992

Year: 1993
Winners: Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei
Movie: Untamed Heart
Why It's the Best: This three-hanky weeper features Christian as a busboy (Adam) who saves Marisa (Caroline) from a rape and then as their romance fully blossoms, dies in his sleep due to a heart candition. The flirtatious ways of Marisa and sensitive nature of Christian make them too darn likeable not to want to see them make-out.

Year: 1994
Winners: Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson
Movie: Indecent Proposal
Why It's the Best: Before Demi became known as the cougar who bagged Ashton Kutcher, she was the undisputed sex symbol of the mid-'90s. Her character's (Diana) steamy, passionate lip-locks with Woody (David) almost made up for what was panned as a terrible film, earning both of them Razzie awards for Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actor.

1994 MTV Movie Award Best Kiss, Indecent Proposal

Year: 1995
Winners: Jim Carrey and Lauren Holly
Movie: Dumb and Dumber
Why It's the Best: Not all of the Best Kiss winners are sex symbols. Jim (Lloyd Christmas) showed that homely guys can get it on too, although the exaggerated and slightly uncomfortable face-sucking with Lauren (Mary Swanson) was the first kiss to win the award for comedic effect above anything.

Year: 1996
Winners:  Natasha Henstridge and Anthony Guidera
Movie: Species
Why It's the Best: Anthony wasn't a main star in this flick and barely made it on screen, but sure made the most of his time. His steamy romp with alien-DNA filled Natasha (Sil) made this the first extra-terrestrial kiss to take home the Golden Popcorn trophy.

Year: 1997
Winners: Will Smith and Vivica A. Fox
Movie: Independence Day
Why It's the Best: Before Jada Pinkett Smith came around, Will (Captain Steven Hiller) made headlines for locking lips with another fine black woman in Vivica (Jasmine Dubrow) during this sci-fi thriller. The kiss not only helped make the movie one of the highest-grossing films of all time, but also catapulted Will into A-list stardom.

Year: 1998
Winners: Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore
Movie: The Wedding Singer
Why It's the Best: Apparently people did practice kisses in the '80s. This warm-up smooch between Adam (Robbie Hart) and Drew (Julia Sullivan) was just too cute to not walk away with the trophy that year.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 1998, The Wedding Singer

Year: 1999
Winners: Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes
Movie: Shakespeare in Love
Why It's the Best: Gwyneth (Viola de Lesseps) and Joseph (William Shakespeare) showed that, yes, make-out sessions did take place during the renaissance! Viola may have had to disguise herself to perform on stage, but she sure didn't disguise her passion for Shakespeare in this awesome kissing scene.

Year: 2000
Winners: Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair
Movie: Cruel Intentions
Why It's the Best: The first lesbian kiss to ever take top billing at the MTV Movie Awards. Also, Sarah, Selma just called: She wants her tongue back.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2000, Cruel Intentions

Year: 2001
Winners: Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas
Movie: Save the Last Dance
Why It's the Best: Who wouldn't want to make out after all that sexy hip-hop dancing?! Sean (Derek Thomas) plays the role of dance mentor to Julia (Sarah Johnson) by taking her to hip-hop clubs and the ballet, but also introduces her to the art of the kiss in this teen rom-com.

Year: 2002
Winners: Jason Biggs and Sean William Scott
Movie: American Pie 2
Why It's the Best:It takes some skill to win a Best Kiss award when both participants really, really didn't want to do it. The bromance between Jason (Jim) and Sean (Stiffler) reaches a whole new level when they kiss each other in return for being able to watch two girls do the same. Somehow, this scenario just doesn't happen in real life.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2002, American Pie 2

Year: 2003
Winners: Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst
Movie: Spider-Man
Why It's the Best: Upside. Down. Kiss. Period.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2003, Spider-Man

Year: 2004
Winners: Owen Wilson, Carmen Electra and Amy Smart
Movie: Starsky and Hutch
Why It's the Best: This fantasy sequence kiss between three hot actors became the first triple smooch to walk away with the award. It also made Owen Wilson the envy of every man in America!

Year: 2005
Winners: Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
Movie: The Notebook
Why It's the Best: We know, we know. Passionate make-out sessions in the rain are almost cliche at this point. However, this kiss between Ryan (Noah Calhoun) and Rachel (Allie Hamilton) was so tender that it's been ranked by many as one of the best kisses of all time.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2005, The Notebook

Year: 2006
Winners: Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal
Movie: Brokeback Mountain
Why It's the Best: The first truly gay kiss to take home the Golden Popcorn trophy. Heath (Ennis Del Mar) and Jake (Jack Twist) pulled off their romance and make-out sessions so convincingly that they were forced to dodge gay rumors in their personal lives for months afterwards!

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2006, Brokeback Mountain

Year: 2007
Winners: Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen
Movie: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Why It's the Best:Pretty much anything that Sacha does is hysterical and this is no exception. The cheesy music in the background during this, um, romantic kiss made it one of the funniest comedy moments of the year.

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2007, Talladega Nights

Year: 2008
Winners: Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman
Movie: Step Up 2 the Streets
Why It's the Best: We'll be honest. This movie was far from a classic. But the on-screen chemistry between Briana (Andie West) and Robert (Chase Collins) led to an A+ smooch that almost made up for a mainly lackluster film.

Year: 2009
Winners: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
Movie: Twlight
Why It's the Best: This make-out between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen was what catapulted their dominance in the kissing category at the MTV Movie Awards. They're the only pair to ever win the award three times in a row and the only two people to ever win the award more than once!

Year: 2010
Winners: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
Movie: The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Why It's the Best: Bella and Edward had a lot to live up to after their steamy make-out in the last Twilight and they did not disappoint. Their sexy kiss and subsequent award further cemented their status as two of the biggest A-list stars in Hollywood.

Year: 2011
Winners: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
Movie: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Why It's the Best: Where will Bella and Edward kiss this time? That was the question on the minds of many fans when the third installment of the Twilight saga hit theaters. They choose an outdoor setting this time, but with the chemistry between these two, they could have done it anywhere and it would have been just as hot!

MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss 2011, Twilight: Eclipse

These are all pretty steamy, but our pick for the Best Kiss of all-time has to go to Spider-Man! It'll be a long time, if ever, before we see another upside-down kiss on screen.

What's your pick for the Best Kiss of all-time?
