The Descendants star is awarded the "golden popcorn" for Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards -- and we couldn't be more amped for her! Taking to the press room Shailene couldn't stop saying how surprised she was! She coily commented,"This is so surreal! It's crazy growing up watching the awards, and then actually being called up to the stage to accept this award. Just wow!"

Shailene showed up to the awards show, wearing an adorable black Stella McCartney suit. and with it being an outfit not many can pull off -- she did so quite nicely!

We kinda wonder what all The Hunger Game fans are thinking!? Most everyone thought Liam Hemsworth was a shoe-in -- But welp, apparently not!

Congrats Shailene, you rock!

"they were no match as fans rallied behind Woodley" ... Interesting formulation coming from MTV themselves - MTV either doesn't remember that they didn't allow the fans to vote for this category, or they want to cover that up. Liam Hemsworth would have been the obvious winner if it had been according to the fans. Since it's ok for MTV to have awards won solely by fan/cult following, then they should have owned up to their decision and made the same thing here. Twilight-, Harry Potter- and Hunger Games fans vote for their cast in every category, regardless of how accurate it actually is... Movie of the year, Twilight? Seriously? It's half a movie, without a proper ending, only: "hey, wait 1 year for the second part... Hunger Games, imo a far better movie, ended up winning best fight scene (???) with one of many fight scenes, and by no means a crucial point in the story. So in the end, they didn't give Liam Hemsworth the Breakthrough Award because they knew Hunger Games would win many awards that night and they wanted an "outsider" to win. Embarrassing.
