Is Abraham Lincoln about to become one of the best vampire slayers of all time?!
That's what Benjamin Walker and the rest of the cast for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter are hoping for when the movie hits theaters today. There have been plenty of other kick-butt vampire slayers in TV and film over the years that will be a tall order to surpass though. Read on to find out our list of the top 5 best vampire slayers of all time!
#5 Elvis (Willem Dafoe, Daybreakers)

In this Matrix-lite sci-fi horror flick, a plague transforms most of the human population into vampires and creates a whole new world. Elvis saves the day by shooting Chris (Vince Colosimo) with a crossbow, rescuing Edward (Ethan Hawke) from his wrath and gaining hold of the cure that can change others back.
#4 Angel (David Boreanza, Angel)

This spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer saw David taking on the lead role of Angel, a private detective who really was a vampire whose human soul was restored to him by gypsies. His way of working to "help the helpless" involved plenty of gnarly battles with evil demons or demonic human (and occasionally his own demonic nature).
#3 Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman, Van Helsing)

In this 2004 horror flick, Hugh took on the role of a vigilante monster hunter that was inspired by horror monster films from the '30s and '40s. Although the movie was panned by critics, it grossed over $300 million at the box office and spawned plenty of side ventures including an animated film, comic book and video game.
#2 Blade (Wesley Snipes, Blade)

Wesley is a bad-ass. We already knew it and this 1998 movie confirmed it. Taken from the comic book character of the same name, Wesley plays the role of a human-vampire hybrid that protects humans from vampires. The movie grossed $131 million and spawned two sequels, but Wesley sadly could not protect himself from the IRS: he is in the middle of a three-year prison sentence for willfully failing to pay $17 million in taxes.
#1 Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Duh. It was pretty obvious this would be number one, right?! In this TV series, Sarah plays the role of a "slayer" who is one of a long line of women chosen to battle evil forces. The show was a smash success in spanning for seven seasons and picking up three Emmys, but also led to plenty of Buffy related merch including novels, comic books and video games.
