It's pretty hard to go "too far" when you're a stand-up comic, but Daniel Tosh managed to do just that during a recent performance in LA.
The host of Tosh.0 on Comedy Central launched into a routine about when rape jokes can be funny when a woman in the audience called out, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny!" That's according to E! Online. Daniel turned to the woman and said, "Wouldn't it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now?" Whoa!

The internet was filled with backlash over Daniel's joke, with msn.com going so far as to call him "annoying and unfunny." He took to Twitter and apologized, but his justification was way longer than the apology. "the point i was making before i was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them. #deadbabies," he tweeted.
However, Daniel has one supporter: Jamie Masada, the owner of comedy club The Laugh Factory where the set was performed. "If you are a member of the audience and you start dishing out something to a comic and try to be funny, you better be able to take it," said Jamie.
He does have a point. If you heckle a comic while they're performing, there is no way you won't be skewered and become part of the act. That being said, Daniel took the wrong approach. Also, if you're a good comic, it's possible to make anything funny, including rape. The problem is that he just isn't a particularly good one.
