Hip-hop and homosexuality haven't gone hand in hand throughout the years, but Kanye West's protege Frank Ocean may be the first to bring the two together after admitting he's gay!

The singer made the open declaration on his blog by admitting that his first love four years ago was a man, according to TMZ. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be--the other guy was already in a relationship!

"Four summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too," wrote Frank. "We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I'd see him, and his smile.” All together now. One...two...three...awwww!

There's a fair amount of intolerance towards homosexuality in the rap world though, so has Frank received any backlash? So far, all the signs have been positive. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons even wrote a congratulatory letter to Frank! "Today is a big day for hip-hop," wrote Russell. "It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we? [...] Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear."

Of course, money and numbers still talk. We'll see if hip-hop fans support Frank when his debut album Channel Orange is released in two weeks!
