There's a reported short list of A-list names that Idol producers want on the panel for season 12 including Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and even Charlie Sheen. We think there's a whole slew of even more qualified candidates though that they've missed though! Check out our round-up of the top five people we think should be in the judging chair for next season!
A nearly 35-year career in the music business means you're sure as hell qualified to be judging up-and-coming talent and Madonna isn't known for holding back with her opinions. Plus, let's be honest: Madge hasn't had a hit on her own in seven years and Idol has been very good to judges whose star power is on the decline. Just look at the career boost J.Lo got from the show!
2. Janet Jackson
There isn't another family on the planet who would be more qualified to evaluate future pop stars, but Janet is the only Jackson over the age of 18 who isn't a total freak show. And again, same deal as Madonna. Janet hasn't had a hit since her Super Bowl nipplegate scandal, so this could be a way to show the world that she's still a viable pop singer.
3. Clive Davis
If Randy is going to leave the show, they should bring in another person who's more famous behind the scenes. Clive is the biggest known record producer in the industry and has worked with just about everyone on the planet including Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis. The 80-year-old has also played a major role in shaping the mega-careers of former Idol cast members like season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson, which would only raise the stakes for the contestants this season.
4. P. Diddy
It's been an eternity since P. Diddy last had a hit single, but he's been churning out big-name artists for years and struck gold with creating all-girl pop group Danity Kane on MTV's Making the Band. His raging temper quickly became obvious on the show, which would lead to some serious fireworks in the judge's chair. Can you imagine him and Simon Cowell butting heads?!
5. Sharon Osbourne
Let's be real. Anyone who's listened to Sharon speak, whether it's on America's Got Talent or The Talk, knows that she doesn't stand for any BS. And running her husband Ozzy Osbourne's career and Ozzfest simultaneously means that she knows a thing or two about music. Hell, if J.Lo and Randy walk out too, put Ozzy and daughter Kelly Osbourne in the other two chairs and make it a family act. Remember how funny The Osbournes was?!
