2012 is definitely looking on the up and up for Shane Harper!
Not only did the Good Luck Charlie actor released his self-titled debut album last February, but Shane just booked one of the most coveted spots in music this year by opening up for Carly Rae Jepsen later this summer in LA! He recently sat down with Hollywire's own Chelsea Briggs to talk about the opportunity, touring with Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson and even taking his turn in the Hollywire Hot Seat!
Shane still isn't sure how he managed to snag the gig opening up for Carly Rae, but thinks it may have had to do with his recent cover of Call Me Maybe in concert. "After you play for a while, you like to mix things up," he said. "Sometimes we pick covers that we’ve never done before and do them on stage during the performance. We ended up doing Call Me Maybe and a week later (my manager) was like, "You’re opening for her in LA!"
This time around, Shane won't be playing the elder role backstage to 26-year-old Carly Rae -- which he said he did, when touring with Greyson and Cody a few years ago. "I felt like the old guy because they were really young," he said. Greyson was 13 and Cody was 14. They were riding skateboards and I was like, 'You're gonna hurt yourself!' Who knew Shane was a nurterer?!
Shane took his turn in the Hollywire Hot Seat for a round of 20 questions to wrap things up, where he admitted belting out Katy Perry in the shower and revealed that he has a motorcycle license. Hot! Check out our interviews with him and the video for his latest single Dancin' In The Rain!
