Could Kris Humphries have become the greatest swimmer of all time instead of Michael Phelps?

If you look at their swim records from the 10-and-under days, it seems that things were heading in that direction at one point. The former husband of Kim Kardashian and recently signed Brooklyn Nets player was the best swimmer in the country for his age, with Nets Daily tweeting, "At age 10, Michael Phelps was ranked No. 2 among swimmers of his age class. The No. 1 swimmer was Kris Humphries." Whoa!

Not only that, but some of the records that Kris set nearly 20 years ago still have yet to be broken! He still holds the current US speed record for the boys 10 and under, 50 meter freestyle, which he achieved in 1995. Not only that, but Kris was ranked higher than Michael during the '95-'96 season in the 100-meter freestyle!

Of course, Michael broke plenty of records during that time and, you know, there's that whole 19 Olympic medals (and counting) thing now. Did Kris and Michael ever race against each other though? Unfortunately, there's no authority which can confirm that -- or that Kris was even ranked higher than Michael overall. But even though have to wonder what could have been with Kris on the swimming front, he obviously did just fine for himself.

What do you think Kris beating Michael in the pool as a junior?
