It’s official!! Sam Claflin will play Finnick in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!

After weeks of speculation, Lionsgate announced that the British-born actor will be taking on the leading role. Claflin will join the cast as the handsome, charming former champion Finnick Odair.

Some other big names had been mentioned for the role, like Robert Pattinson, Taylor Kitsch and Armie Hammer, but Lionsgate went for a lesser-known actor (at least, relatively). Stepping into the character’s incredibly good-looking shoes should be easy for Claflin, though, after playing the romantic leads in last year’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and this summer’s Snow White and The Huntsman.

If you’re unfamiliar with who Finnick is in Catching Fire, allow us to explain! He’s a former Hunger Games winner who becomes friends with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) during the Quarter Quell. He goes on to become an important part of her post-Games life. Wink, wink, nudge nudge.

Is he the right choice for Finnick? If not, who would YOU have cast in the role??
