At age 37, Bradley Cooper has a pretty impressive resume, but in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he reveals that he almost didn't get a chance to accomplish all that he has.

Unbeknownst to most fans, Bradley spent part of his 20's battling with addiction, which eventually caused him to change his lifestyle completely. "I don't drink or do drugs anymore," he admits. "Being sober helps a great deal." The big change came at age 29, meaning Bradley has been sober for eight years now!

"I always felt like an outsider," he explains. "I just lived in my head. I realized I wasn't going to live up to my potential, and that scared the hell out of me. I thought, 'Wow, I'm actually going to ruin my life; I'm really going to ruin it."

It's clear now that sobering up has had nothing but positive effects on the actor, who was named 2011's Sexiest Man of the Year by People. Coming up, Bradley's film The Words will hit theaters on Friday, and he's also got two films premiering at the Toronto Film Festival. Keep it comin', Bradley!
