The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are happening this Sunday and we droves of first-time nominees in the mix!

From Girls creator/star Lena Dunham to quirky movie star-turned-quirky TV star Zooey Deschanel to the peerless Louis C.K. -- they might not all be rookies in the traditional sense, btu we're stoked that they'll be making their Emmys red carpet debut this Sunday! Let’s go through the first-time nominee roster to get to know them a little better, shall we?

Lena Dunham

Nominated for: Girls – Lead Actress, Comedy Series; Writing, Comedy Series; Directing, Comedy Series; Outstanding Comedy

Why We’re Excited: Lena's Girls has become the new Sex and the City (but with less sexy gentlemen callers and fancy shoes, and more awkward sex and dingy studio apartments), so it's no surprise that her show got as many noms as it did. We're rooting for you, girl!

Zooey Deschanel

Nominated For: New Girl – Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Why We’re Excited: While she's spent most of her career on the big screen, Zooey totally won our hearts as the quirky, awkward, yet completely charming Jess on the small screen this year. Can't wait to see what this vintage-loving beauty wears on the red carpet!

Max Greenfield

Nominated For: New Girl – Supporting Actor, Comedy Series

Why We’re Excited: Two words: scene stealer. You can’t deny that Schmidt is one of the reasons why people turn into the show every week! Hope this nom leads to a win so it can inspire the writers to put him in every. single. scene.

Louis C.K.

Nominated For: Louie – Lead Actor, Comedy Series; Directing, Comedy Series; Writing, Comedy Series

Why We’re Excited: Louis was already ruling the comedy scene in stand-up and then he went ahead and made himself a pitch-perfect TV show. Like Lena, Louis does it ALL on the show -- starring in it, directing, writing, producing and even editng! We have a hunch this year's nominations are gonna turn into some gold statues.

Mayim Bialik

Nominated For: The Big Bang Theory – Supporting Actress, Comedy Series

Why We’re Excited: She never got a nomination when she was in her 90s flower-hat/oversized-sweater prime in Blossom but she's finally got her chance as the nerd-tastic Amy on Big Bang Theory.

Michelle Dockery

Nominated For: Downton Abbey – Lead Actress, Drama Series

Why We’re Excited: British audiences fell in love with Michelle first, but America quickly caught up with the Downton Abbey obsession. She's brilliant as the sophisticated, sharp Lady Mary and we think Sunday will be something of an American coming out ball for Michelle. Keep your eye on this one.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Nominated For: Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia – Lead Actress, Miniseries or Movie

Why We’re Excited: Just like Michelle, Benedict made a name for himself first in the UK as the modern-day Sherlock, and American audiences are quickly catching on to the brilliance of the show and his performnace. Oh and he's devastatingly handsome, to boot. We'd like to import him to the States permanently, please.

Julianne Moore

Nominated For: Game Change – Lead Actress, Miniseries or Movie

Why We’re Excited: We’re still trying to decide whether that was actually Julianne or Sarah Palin saying she was Julianne pretending to be Sarah Palin. Regardless, bravo. We're excited to see what she wears on Sunday because, well, we're just always excited to see her.

Nicole Kidman

Nominated For: Hemingway & Gelhorn – Lead Actress, Miniseries or Movie

Why We’re Excited: Obviously Nicole is no stranger to big award shows, but maybe since this is her first Emmy nomination, she'll be nervous for the show! Kidding, Nicole doesn't understand "nervous." She's a certified star.

Clive Owen

Nominated For: Hemingway & Gelhorn – Lead Actor, Miniseries or Movie

Why We’re Excited: Sure, Clive is a big time movie star, but we’re excited to see him mingle with the TV crowd. And, you know, see him in a tux because, well, have you seen this guy in at tux?
