Let's be honest, Gwyneth Paltrow has been gaining a rep for being pretentious in recent years. From saying that the Brits are "more intelligent and civilized than the Americans," finding it "incredibly embarrassing when people are drunk" and saying she would "rather die than let my kid eat Cup-a-Soup," she hasn't exactly been endearing herself to the public.
Throw another obnoxious quote into the pile now. Despite being quintessentially American and married to a Brit in Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, she's gotten the idea that TV in English is harmful to her two children. "I only let them watch TV in French or Spanish," she said to InStyle magazine. "When I’m in France, I go to [Boulevard] Beaumarchais and buy all their cartoons." We have to admit though, we feel a whole lot classier when we watch Jersey Shore in French...
Of course, the argument could also be made she's trying to make her kids tri-lingual. Hardly a fault worthy concept, right? Until she got all uptight and pretentious again in the same interview. When asked how she lets loose, she said that, "My indulging is a fresh baguette with cheese and a glass of red wine...or a turkey burger."
Call us, Gwyn. We want to party with you, girl. Seriously.
