The streak is over for Shia LaBeouf!
The actor had seven straight No. 1 box office hits, but an eighth one wasn't meant to be. Horror flick The Possession took top honors at the box office this week with $17.7 million in sales over the weekend and is on track for the second biggest Labor Day opening weekend ever! Shia will have to settle for second place since his Depression-era crime drama Lawless only cleared just over half of what The Possession did with $9.7 million in sales.
Meanwhile, another film broke a box office record -- but not in the way its producers probably had in mind. Kid flick The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure averaged an almost comical $200 at the 2,180 theaters it screened in and is the worst opening of any film premiering between 2,000 and 2,500 theaters. It made just over $448,000 in box office sales, which means someone is getting fired considering that it cost $20 million to make and another $40 million to release into theaters!
Rounding out the top 5 at the box office are The Expendables 2 at No. 3 ($8.8 million), The Bourne Legacy at No. 4 ($7.2 million) and ParaNorman at No. 5 ($6.6 million).
What do you think of Shia's streak being broken?
