We should have seen this coming. Anything Taylor Swift touches or creates turns to gold – or should we say platinum. The superstar released her album Red last week and it’s sold 1.2 million copies in its first week – that’s the largest sales week for any album in a decade! It’s official: Taylor rules the world.
"They just told me Red sold 1.2 million albums first week. How is this real life?! You are UNREAL. I love you so much. Thanks a million ;)," Taylor tweeted.
But there’s another reason why this is a huge deal. This marks Taylor second straight album, following Speak Now, to sell more than one million in its first week, making her the only woman to have two albums do that. All hail Tay Tay!
Fun fact: the only other music act to sell more than one million copies of an album in one week twice was a little band called NSYNC. Maybe you’ve heard of them?
Major congrats, Taylor! You rock girlfriend!
What do you think about Taylor’s latest accomplishment? Also, have you listened to Red yet? What are your thoughts?
