Bet you never thought you’d hear Twilight and Green Day coming together, did you? The legendary punk band is lending their talents to the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack alongside Ellie Goulding, Passion Pit and Christina Perri.

Now, before you go off wondering what the heck the guy were thinking wanting to be a part of the Twilight Saga since it doesn’t really make sense for them, allow them to explain.

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt explained to Yahoo! Movies that they actually wanted to be involved with the franchise’s final flick. “When we were asked to be a part of the Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 soundtrack, we readily agreed because the films are an insane cultural phenomenon, and we have always been impressed with the way the Twilight soundtracks are so carefully curated.” The man’s got a point.
