Remember this guy?!

It's hard to believe that Phillip Phillips was the most recognizable performer in the country just five months ago after winning American Idol. He might be the show's most low profile winner ever because apart from having surgery to remove kidney stones and going on the obligatory Idol tour this past summer, we haven't heard a peep from him. Phillip finally resurfaced last night though on one of the biggest stages possible to sing the national anthem: Game 1 of the World Series!

Fans responded well to his guitar-centric version of the anthem based on their loud cheers afterwards. If nothing else, it was way better than some other recent attempts at singing during ball games. (Lil' Wayne, anyone?)

"Gaaaaaaahhhhh leeeeeeeee that was nerve racking!!" he tweeted afterwards. Something else that's sure to be just as terrifying for Phillip is the release of his debut album next month, The World from the Side of the Moon
